Board of Education Members
Seven volunteers are elected to the Chemeketa Board of Education from zones in our district to govern the college.
Board Member Functions
Chemeketa Board of Education members serve the college and our community in a number of ways.
- Approve the college vision and mission statements
- Hire and supervise the college president
- Approve policies
- Approve major expenditures
- Approve the annual budget in cooperation with the college Budget Committee
- Represent the college at hundreds of events each year

Zone One: Iton Udosenata

EmailDr. Iton Udosenata is superintendent of the Tigard-Tualatin School District and brings over two decades of experience as a public educator, having served as a teacher, principal, and district leader. A proud Oregon native and product of public schools, he is deeply committed to equitable access to education and community-centered leadership. Dr. Udosenata has served diverse communities across Oregon and beyond, with a leadership style grounded in collaboration, inclusion, and student success. He currently serves on the boards of Chemeketa Community College, and the University of Oregon College of Education.

Zone Two: Birgitte Ryslinge
Yamhill County
Dr. Birgitte Ryslinge was appointed and then elected to the Chemeketa Community College Board of Education in 2025.
She brings to the Chemeketa Board 25+ years of community college leadership experience, most recently as the president of Oregon Coast Community College (2014 - 2024). Her career includes teaching in the disciplines of psychology and business, and she has served on numerous Boards including the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County, the Northwest Oregon Works Workforce Investment Board, and many more.
Dr. Ryslinge's academic degrees include a PhD in Organizational Psychology, and an MBA in Strategic Planning.

EmailNeva Hutchinson was elected to the Chemeketa Board of Education in 2015 after serving several terms on the college Budget Committee. Prior to her service to Chemeketa, Neva has been a member of the Salem-Keizer Public School District Board.

EmailKen Hector brings extensive private and public sector experience to the Chemeketa Board of Education.
Ken’s business credentials include operating food and beverage establishments, management positions with insurance programs and directing community outreach and governmental affairs for Silverton Health.
His public sector service includes Silverton City Council, WESD Board and the SEDCOR Board.

EmailDiane Watson’s career as a community college administrator provides her with a deep understanding of the policy issues facing Chemeketa. Diane has served on numerous higher education committees and task forces, and she has an educational doctorate (ED.D) from the University of Northern Colorado.

EmailBetsy Earls is the Manager of Oregon Public Affairs for Wyerhaeuser Company. Betsy works with legislation affecting timber and land use. She is a graduate of Willamette University Law School and has practiced law since 2002.
